Using the Harness Option for Unstable
Roller Bags
Although the RollerTop works
great on most quality roller bags in the market, they may be occasions in which
a specific roller bag may be too unstable. If your roller bag is unstable, even
when you do not have the RollerTop installed, it may not be a good candidate
for using the RollerTop. You may try
using the Harness option described in this section to use the RollerTop in a
stand up position with unstable roller bags that tend to tilt away from the
user when being used in stand up position. You may also want to review the
section “Customizing your RollerTop” in this manual to balance the RollerTop
more efficiently on your roller bag. Also consider that most bags become a lot
more stable after they are packed up and full. You may want to try your
RollerTop again on your roller bag after it is fully packed to see if it then
becomes more stable for using with your RollerTop.
1)
Install the
harness hook to the front bungee cord by threading the cord through the hook
opening and making a simple knot at the end of the cords.
2)
Attach the hook
to either your belt buckle, or anything in your waist area. Be careful not to
rip any clothing.
3)
The front bungee
now also acts as a harness line securing the RollerTop so that it cannot tilt
away from you while you use it standing up.

Customizing your RollerTop
Your
RollerTop ships already assembled. This standard configuration works best for
most standard roller bags. There will be occasions in which you may want to
experiment alternative setups, to customize your RollerTop for a specific
Roller bag type.
The
RollerTop works best when it is balanced right in the center of gravity of your
roller bag, when the portable computer is installed. In some instances, you may
want to try moving the holding straps and lever Velcro one slot to either the
front of the standard setup, or one slot to the rear of the standard setup, to
achieve a more balanced configuration.
Simply
remove the male buckle from the holding strap and remove the strap by
unthreading it through the slots. Pay attention to the thread pattern as you
will use the same pattern again. You can move the strap one slot to either the
front or the rear of its standard setup (slot 1). Choose your modification
strategy and rethread the strap using the same pattern. Follow the order
numbers below as a reference for the threading pattern (Although the numbers
could move forward or backwards one slot, they still represent the correct
thread pattern to follow). Start by threading the strap through slot 1, making
sure you leave the D-ring on the bottom of the top panel. Continue threading
the strap in the pattern shown bellow. Reattach the male buckle. Move both
“lifters” to match new position.

Lifters
are designed to lift the RollerTop slightly to avoid pressing the handle’s
release button on some handle systems. If the roller bag’s handle has a button
on the top that releases the telescopic tube locks when using the RollerTop,
make sure you are using the “lifters” correctly. These should be at each side
of the handle’s button. If additional lift is required, use a spacing object
such as a piece of cardboard or a coin to achieve more separation. Simply
release the lifter strap, locate spacing object in the lower side of the lifter
strap position and reinstall the lifter strap wrapping the object inside of the
strap.
